Vicki H. Silver, 63, crossed the Rainbow Bridge Wednesday, October 26. She was born in St. Louis, Missouri, to Sidney and Rhoda Hurwitz, who survive.
Vicki received a Bachelor of Social Work degree from Butler University and later a Master of Social Work from IUPUI. She worked for the State of Indiana, first at Central State Hospital and then Larue Carter Hospital.
She had a lifelong passion for animals and nature. Her proudest moments were when she rescued an animal. Vicki was active in greyhound rescue, and she fostered several greyhounds.
Other survivors include husband, Michael Silver; sister Deborah (Rick) Burns, St. Louis; brother Jon Hurwitz (Becca), Pittsburgh; dogs Ruby, Emma, and Saki; cats Lucy, Oliver, Gracie, and Dylan; nephews Richie Burns, Jesse Burns, Aaron Signer; nieces Joanna Hurwitz and Rachel Signer.
A celebration of her life will take place 1:30 Sunday, November 20, 2011 at Flanner and Buchanan Funeral Center-Broad Ripple, 1305 Broad Ripple Avenue with a gathering 1 hour prior.
