Dr. R. Louis Curry
90, Indianapolis, died peacefully Saturday October 1, 2011. He was born April 19, 1921 in Greentown, IN to Roscoe and Winona Curry. He shared childhood with Thelma (Robert) Coomer. He graduated from Greentown High School in 1938. He attended Ball State Teachers College and received his Mathematics degree in 1942. While at Ball State, he met and fell in love with Viola Belle Roe of Gary, Indiana, his devoted wife of 63 years.
He joined the US Army Air Corps in 1942 and served as a Captain until 1945. In 1953 he received his medical degree from The Hahnemann Medical College. He practiced for over 50 years on the eastside of Indianapolis and he was one of the original physicians of Community Hospital East. Longtime member of the Indianapolis Medical Society. He was a member of Allisonville Christian Church. He was an avid bowler until the age of 89.
He is survived by sons Roger (Sherry) of Austell, GA; Douglas (Kathy) of Bloomington, IN; Richard (Valerie) of Peachtree City, GA; 13 grandchildren Angela (Corbit Jr.), Benjamin, Travis (Sarah), Ian (Brooke), Allison (Stacy), John, Jeff, Jill, Caleb (Charity), Deborah, Riley, Jordyn and Esther; 5 great-grandchildren Alexis, Corbit III, Benjamin, Nathan and Lillian. He was preceded in death by his sister Thelma, his wife Viola and a son Louis E. (widow, Glenda).
In lieu of flowers donations can be made to Alzheimer's Association of Greater Indiana. Funeral services will be 11:00 AM Friday, October 7th at Flanner and Buchannan Funeral Center-Broad Ripple, 1305 Broad Ripple Avenue. Visitation will be 5 PM to 8 PM October 6th
