Naomi M. Broviak King

Dear King Family,

The Northminster Family was saddened to learn of Naomi's death. I just received a Christmas card from her a few weeks ago. Naomi was a receptionist at Northminster for many years and all of us in the office loved her. When my son broke his leg many years ago she knitted him cast covers to keep his toes warm. Please know you are in our prayers.

Pat, Taddy, and I wanted to let you know how sorry we are to hear about Naomi. I remember many of Mom's stories about their growing up together. When Grandma and Grandpa Haffield had a bathtub installed, there must not have been other bathtubs in the neighborhood. Mom (and I think, Naomi), invited all the neighborhood girls in for a bath, without my Grandma's knowledge. They thought it would be fun to share the experience!

Naomi encouraged Mom to move to Crestview, and they renewed their childhood friendship. It was great for us to see our mom have so many new friends, thanks to Naomi. It wasn't long before the two of them organized their friends into the "When We Smile" chapter of Riley Auxiliary. Buying the fabric (or getting donations), cutting out the fabric, drawing puppy faces, sewing and stuffing the puppy pillows, and encouraging their friends to sew puppy pillows was an important part of Mom's life. They made thousands of puppy pillows for children who had surgery at Riley. They also made blankets, lap quilts, and small cloth toys. I often wonder how many children and families were blessed by the giving of these selfless ladies.

She will will be missed by everone. She comforted me in many ways as a young boy.

Naomi lived such a long and wonderful life. I was so blessed every time I visited her. She never seemed to lose her youth, and when my parents both passed on, so close together, she was so kind to me. She would write me letters, and always had a listening ear when I would call and share the grief that I was going through. She will always be in my memory as an example on how to live my life.9

Dear King Family,

There are few things more difficult than dealing with the loss of a loved one. We, along with our staff, are honored and humbled that you have chosen our family to care for your family during this time. It is our hope that we have been able, in some small way, to lighten your burden and give proper reverence to a life lived. Please let us know if we can be of further service.
