Sgt Michael F. Thiel, 50, Indianapolis, passed away October 2, 2011. He was born September 10, 1961, in Indianapolis, the son of Leonard and Joan (Pitsenberger) Thiel.
He was a highly decorated Sergeant in the United States Army and served 15 years in the military with two tours of duty in Iraq. He was a member of the VFW and the American Legion Post #34.
Michael is survived by his parents; wife, Kerstin (Goode) Thiel; two brothers, John Thiel and Joe (Chris) Thiel; three sisters, Carolyn Land, Dianne (Wally) Dixon, Amy (Tom) Hutsell; in-laws, Melvin Sr. and Paula Kerr; and a host of nieces and nephews, in-laws, and beloved friends.
Mass of Christian Burial will be 11:00 a.m. Saturday, October 8, 2011, at St. Pius X, 7200 Sarto Drive. Friends may call from 9:00 a.m. until the time of service at the church. Memorial contributions may be directed to www.WoundedWarriorProject.org. Arrangements were entrusted to Flanner and Buchanan Funeral Center – Broad Ripple.
