Lawrence E. Wood, 70, of Indianapolis, passed away at home on November 10, 2011 in the presence of his loving wife. Born October 9, 1941 to the late James W. and Audrey (Harlan) Wood in Indianapolis. Larry spent 30 years with the Marion County Sheriff's Dept. retiring in 1998. He found enjoyment gardening, working on his home, and spending time at the beach. Larry was also a creative, artistic soul who practiced photography and drawing. Most of all, he enjoyed spending time with family and friends.
With courage and strength so great, he fought and won the battle of 3 different cancers and was fighting valiantly to win over the fourth. Larry is survived by his wife, Kathleen (Mantel) of 20 years; son, Gregory (Dorothy) Wood; daughters, Angela (Jay) Evans and Morgan (Jason) Cedarholm; brother, Jim (Kathy) Wood; sisters, Sharon (Dean) Hasselburg, Vicki Brown, and Lori (David) Dunn; three amazing grandchildren, Layla Campbell, Luke Evans, and Madison Wood; and multiple nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Funeral services will be held Friday, November 18 at 11:00a.m at Flanner and Buchanan - Broad Ripple, where friends and family are invited to gather on Thursday November 17, from 4-8 pm.
The family would like to thank all his doctors and caregivers, including special thanks to Dr. Stephen Schultz and all of the wonderful nurses and office staff who assisted him over the last several years.
