Jo Ann Eroen, 76, Indianapolis, passed away January 15, 2012. She was born September 4, 1935, in Terre Haute, the daughter of the late Wayne A. and Cecile Irene (Alexander) Gormong.

She was a 1953 graduate of Honey Creek High School and in 1956 she graduated from the Saint Anthony School of Nursing. Riley Children's Hospital was the fortunate recipient of her passion for nursing for the last 54 years.

Jo Ann was a member of Sweet Adelines and the White River Sound Chorus. She was a sports enthusiast and enjoyed singing, but her greatest enjoyment was spending time with her family.

She is survived by her husband of 41 years, Terry L. Eroen; daughter, Jennifer (Shadman) Shamsaie, Indianapolis; grandson, Ethan; sister, Betty (Earlon) McWhorter, Aurburn, AL; and two brothers, Herbert Gormong, Atlanta, GA, and James (Jane) Gormong, Terre Haute. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her step-mother, Mary Alice Gormong.

Memorial services will be 3:00 p.m. Thursday, January 19, 2012, at Flanner and Buchanan – Broad Ripple, 1305 East Broad Ripple Avenue. Visitation will be from 1:00 p.m. until 3:00 p.m. at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be directed to the Riley Children's Foundation, 30 South Meridian St # 200, Indianapolis, IN 46204-3509.
