So sorry to hear of your loss. I would talk with your mother on the phone when I was in town between my trips. I had not called her in awhile. We would have wonderful conversations.

Mickey (her son Jon Michael) was my first best friend, in high school. So many of my fond memories of those days involve the Meese household and their wonderful hospitality. To this day, there hangs in our bedroom, a print that Wilbur gave me, signed, one day when I stopped by to visit them.

I got much more from Jean, Wilbur, and Mickey, than I could ever repay.

Mary Ann, I was on vacation and was quickly looking at papers and saw that your Mother passed away. I am so sorry. It is hard to lose your Mother. My Mother passed away April 4th at 89. Dad passed away at 96 in 2008. I alway enjoyed the wonderful visits with your family. Your mom was always a wonderful gracious lady who alway had a smile and kind word. Hopefully, we can make contact soon.

My condolences to Mary Ann and all of those who were so very close to Ella Jean. The last time I talked with her was at my own mother's funeral. She always seemed more like an Aunt than a cousin as we were a generation apart. I salute a life lived so honorably well. And may she rest in peace.
