Ella Jean Meese, 96, of Indianapolis, passed away October 10, 2011. She was born January 22, 1915 in Indianapolis, Indiana, the daughter of the late Everet and Mae (Stuart) Ward. She was married to local artist, Wilbur Meese, who preceded her in death in 1998.
Jean was a member of the Second Presbyterian Church and enjoyed quilting, decorating, and supporting her husband and family in every aspect of their lives. She liked acting and directing when she was young.
Jean is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, MaryAnn Meese and Michael Phillabaum; daughter-in-law, Ann (Robisch) Meese, grandchildren, Rachel Meese, Tom and Jennifer Meese, Emily and Sarah Fletcher and their father Mark Fletcher, MD; great grandchild Bella Meese; cousins, Phyllis Baskerville, and her two daughters, Tara Lee and Tammy McTarget. She was preceded in death by her son Jon Michael Meese.
Services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Friday, October 14, 2011, at Flanner and Buchanan Funeral Center – Broad Ripple, 1305 East Broad Ripple Avenue. Visitation will be two hours prior to the service at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be directed to Riley Children's Hospital.
