Don F. "Pooch" Hunter, Indianapolis, was born in 1926, and passed away November 28, 2011, one day before his 85th birthday.

During his long life he contributed heart and soul to many community endeavors and fought for helpless animals as the Past President and board member of the "Home for Friendless Animals".
Throughout his long and successful career as a broker and owner of Pooch Hunter Real Estate, Past President and longtime board member of MIBOR, he was recognized through many esteemed awards such as MIBOR Realtor of the Year, State of Indiana Realtor of the Year, and the Bud Tucker Community Service Award.

Pooch served honorably with the U.S. Marine Corp in World War II and played drums in the Marine Corp dance band. He married Dianne Adams in 1977, who survives him. He is also survived by children, Karen Schmoll, Jill Hunter, Trey Howe; grandsons, Ian Hunter Schmoll, Nicholas and Zachary Gentile; and granddaughter, Heather Lynn Grilley. He was preceded in death by his mother, Dorothy Hunter; sister, Shirley Hunter; son, Greg Hunter; and brother, Jack Hunter.

His three year old great granddaughter, Rya Grilley, lovingly calls him "Granich Poops" also great grandchildren, Amanda Hunter, Keegan Howe. Pooch was much more than a loving husband, father, and loyal friend to many.

Services will be private. Visitation will be from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Thursday, December 1, 2011, at Flanner and Buchanan – Broad Ripple, 1305 East Broad Ripple Avenue. Memorial contributions may be directed to the Home for Friendless Animals, 7649 West 200 South Waynetown, IN 47990-8180.
