Betty J. Rathbun, Indianapolis, passed away November 28, 2011. A life-long Indianapolis resident, she is preceded in death by her parents William G. and Florance M. (Abney) Loos, brother William A. Loos, and her beloved husband of 49 years, Albert F. Rathbun.
Betty retired from Ameritech in 1988 after more than 40 years as an administrative assistant.
She was a Past Grand High Priestess of Ladies Oriental Shrine of North America, Inc., Past Queen of Daughters of the Nile, Past Maharanee of Smyrna Shrine Guild, Past President Honored Ladies of Murat Temple and Past President Friendship Circle of Scottish Rite. She was a member of Brookside Eastern Star, White Shrine No.6, Beta Sigma Phi Sorority, Pioneers of America and St. Peter's United Church of Christ.
She is survived by her granddaughter, Bo Lowery, along with Phyllis and Harold Lowery of Indianapolis.
Services will be 2:00 p.m. Friday, December 2, 2011, at Flanner and Buchanan – Broad Ripple, 1305 East Broad Ripple Avenue. Visitation will be from 12 noon until service time at the funeral home on Friday. Memorial contributions may be directed to the Shriners Hospitals for Children.
